A Press Association message from Gisborne announces the death of Mrs. Mac Donald, mother of the Hon.,W. D S. * MacDbn'aid. She was 83 Years' of age.
News has been received by cable of the death in England of Mr. Frederick William Marchant, well known in. NewZealand as a civil. engineer.
Mr C. C. Empson, Inspector of .Stock proceeded to Tapawera on Saturday, where he will act. as veterinary officer at the Artillery camp.
Mr Frank Snodgrass, son of Air \V.> W. Snodgrass, who has been connected with the local branch of the Bank of New South Wales, has been transferred to Hastings. He will be much missed in rowing, tennis, and football circles, I in which sports he took a keen interest. Private news has been received .by cable of the death of Lieutenant W. B. Busby, who was killed in action on ] February 15th while serving with the! Mesopotamian . Expeditionary -Force. Lieutenant Busby was. the younger son of the late John Dow Busby, and of Mrs.: Busby/formerly of Valleyfield. Mr W. Rogers, manager of the Anchor Shipping Company, who is suffering from an inflamed leg, believed to be due to the bite' of a' katipo; is making good progress, and expects to foe able to leave for Wellington again this week to resume his attendance at ah industrial conference there. ■
The death has occurred at Wellington of Mr. Daniel P. McCarthy of Wellington, and later of Blenheim. Mr. .McCarthy went to Egypt with the Main Expeditionary Force, and was -through .the .•? Gallipoli landing. Later, he was invalided to Malta, but'he returned to the front again, and was subsequently invalided back to New Zealand, arriving here in May last. The deceased was 29 years of age.
