Eeitter's Itio.de Janeiro' correspondent says there are persistent rumours that the German raider was sunk. Itwas engaged by a British 6quadron.

Pernambuco reports state that as British cruiser searching for the raiders arrived for repairs after repelling an attack by a submarine. The extent of the damage is not known, but the Cruiser bears no evidence of the en-
