A Berlin official message says:— "We repulsed a British detachment} south of Sailly. We checked a French attack at Hill 304. A French attacli, at Poivre Hill failed. The Germans penetrated the French lines near Vaus and north of St. Mihiel, and destroyed dugouts and the inmates."
