A large amount- of the time at the City Council's disposal last night was occupied with consideration of matters connected with the recent floods.

The City Engineer (Mr J. G. Littlejohn) reported on the subject as follows:— -

'.'The serious damage, so far.as the Council is concerned, consists of the washing out of the sewers in Erin street, the damage to ' the pumpingmains in Trafalgar street, and a large slip on the Socks Road. ' "

"The footbridge at Hanby Park, Alton street and at the mouth of the Brook stream in. Milton Grove- are washed away.
