RIWAKA RECRUITING ASSOCIATION.

(From "Tiio Colonist," August, 3.) A meeting of tbo committee of the itnvaka Recruiting Association was held <m July 28th. Mr. Horatio Everett presiding. - . , The treasurer reported that the reeiP^s for the evening amounted to ±,130 11s 6d in subscriptions and £4 8s irom sale of buttons. The president feelingly referred to liio death of Vincent MeNahb (killed in action), this being the third son of Mr and Mrs Edward McNabb who had fallen wliile on active service. The fojlowmg resolution was carried in silence tho _ member* standing.- "That this meeting^ wishes to place' on record the rugh esteem in whir-h it holds Ma- and Mrs Edward UcX.ibb in that they havo reared such a noble soldierly family, and,while sympathising whole-hearted!,-with them in their.latest bereavement, •would respectfully assure ibom that we _bnuou» they will bo sustained in then- lo.ss by the knowledge that their ■boys havri not died in vain and that their memorit)-, will lonp- endure in the hearts of all those who love valour, and who recognise the noble sacrifices of those:-who fearlessly have braved danger even to" the'death."

A letter was received from, the-secre-tary <n" the Nelson Association, thanking the Riwaka committee for the effi-oic-nt way in which the canvass for recruiting had been carried out; also en.closing, cheque for canvasser's wages. was. resolved to pay all money in band into the Silver Bullet-Fund.' ]>■ was resolved that the Association meet the first Monday' hi September to consider the position with -regard to future work. ' "

Votes of thanks were accorded (1) to the ladies who had worked so hard in connection with the Princess campaign, and (2y to the secretary for themanner in -which lie bad carried out Ins duties. . ■

The secretary, .in thanking the committee, said he considered he had only done liis duty. '- -
