COMMONWEALTH LOANS

SUCCESSFUL ISSUE IN LONDON

- In order not to interfere with the prospects of the local war loan, which closed yesterday, cable messages regarding the Commonwealth's loan, of four million o£ per cent bonds having a currency .until 1920-22 at par, floated in London for public works, were withheld. They are now released, and show that the loan was fully subscribed. This completely surprised financial circles, and the loan i$ considered a complete success. It is the first venture on the Loiidon market.

The Federal Treasurer, questioned as to the-prospects of'the. war loan, said he woxild be satisfied if he got 25 milEons.
