PERMANENT PICTURES.

In spite, of the unfavourable weather, ' there was a large attendance at the matinee at the Empire Theatre on Saturday-, .ai&ernoon. But in the case of the evening session the rain was too heavy and continuous for even a powerful attraction like "My Old Dutch." Those present, however, were enthusiastic in their reception of this story of typical London costers. The management have decided to give two •shows to-day—one ' commencing at 3 o'clock, and the usual evening performance. Although many favourable comments have been made with reference to tho great achievementx>f Albert Chevalier and Florence Turner in this particular film, only a personal view eu-! ables one to realise the intense feeling.' the pathos, and the humour portrayed - .i 1! their impersonations of Joe Spudd, the coster, and Sal. his "dear old *■ Dutch." -Several uf Mr Chevalier's ditties 'are played by the orchestra, and , Mr Sid Bush recites the words of the song, "My Old Dutch."
