The British have pushed on the advance north of the^Bazentin-Lpngueval line, and made an important addition to their gains by the capture of Eoureaux VFood, a commanding position. Exceptionally severe fighting has been followed by a lull on the British front. South of the 'orame the Erench retain their recent gains against counter-attacks. The Russians have initiated an Offensive against Hindenburg's armies in the Riga-Dvinsk sector, and have crossed the Dwina.
