MOTUEKA FIRE BRIGADE.

At tae animal meeting o f the Motueka V oltmteer Fire about 20 active and honorary members were present including ex-Lieutenant C. J. Schwass who is on leave from Featherston caain Captain E. A. Knapp occupied the chair.

In response to a communication from the United Fire Brigades' Association respecting the advisability of holding a conference and demonstration m 1917, the meeting decided in favour of a conference only.

The treasurer (Mr 0. C. Wilkinson) react the animal balance-sheet, showing ! a credit from all sources of £20 Is 6a |of which the members' cwn fund is in | credit to the extent of practically th& whole amount, based.on the contribution of sixpence per month, together with special donations, etc. The principal officers were re-elected. It was stateo that m embers of the brigade on active service had been placed on the honorary list during their absence.

The secretary- stated that seven members had enlisted, and that the active list of members here had been reduced thereby to fourteen, which drew a remark from ex-Csptain Moffatt that a greater number of business people ■should join the brigade, which toad bee;i established primarily in their interests.
