TUG-OF-WAR.

A largo number of si>ectators attended tlv» continuation of the tug-oi'-war last ni^l't, Avlien some close contests were soon. The results were as follows:—

Wiiimea Swimming Club beat Kirkpatrick's. , Bombardiers brat Railway. Mental Hospital boat Grenadiers No. 2. Fusiliers boat Grenadiers No. 1. Green's beat National Reserve Band. The special contest between the 12th Regiment Band and the National Reserve Band was won by the former. The bands will meet again this evening. The main contest will then be continned, the drawing; being as■ follows:— Kirkpatrick's v. Fusiliers. Mental Hospital v. Green's. Bombardiers v. National.' Reserve Band. Waimea Swimming Club, a bye. Post entries will be received for the single rope pull and the lazy stick competition. The ladies' tug-of-war will take place to-morrow night. Entries will close, tomorrow at noon. The trophy for the band tug-of-war was presented by Messrs Squires and Hoby.
