July, 17. The half-yearly summoned meeting of the Loyal Nelson Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U.," was held on "Wednesday evening, when there was a fair attendance of members. The Noble Grand, Bro. J..T. Radford, presided. The District officers, G.M. Bro. Wm. Liddle, Dep. Pro. G.M. Bro. Geo. Robertson; and C.S. Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, paid an official visit to the lodge, and^ were heartily thanked for their attendance. The District officers suitably replied. "
The auditors' report and; balance-s---heet were read and adopted, and showed that the lodge.was in a very flourishing state. The Sick and Funeral Fund has a credit balance of £6954 8s 2d. The amount of sick pay disbursed for the half-jear was £140 2s 6d, The Management Fund has a credit balance of £41 7s 4d, and the Benevolent Fund a credit balance of £49 ss. The sum of £40 4s lid was paid to the District Widows and Orphans' Fund. The total worth of the lodge stands at £7045 10s 6d, an increase of £162 2s 7d for the half-year. '*■
The membership now stands at 227. There are 19 members with the Expeditionary Forces. The following officers were duly installed by the Prov. G.M. Bro. Wm. liddle:—Grand Master, Bro. J. T Radford; Noble Grand, Bro. F. C. Ghristall* Vice-Grand, Bro. D. Hood. The permanent secretary, Bro.'W. L. Hesseltine (until such time as he leaves to 30m the Expeditionary Forces), and the treasurer, Bro. Jas. Armstrong, retain their respective offices. A resolution was passed expressing the lodge's.deep sympathy to P'P.G.M. Bro. JV. H. Robertson upon the death of his only son, Bro. A. W. Robertson, who was killed in action in Flanders on June 22nd.-- •
During the evening occasion was taken t^welcome Bro. J. Heath, of the Loyal Westwood Lodge, England, who contemplates taking over the office of permanent-secretary during the absence of the permanent secretary (Bro. W. L. Hesseltine) with the Expeditionary Forces.
■■ A hearty vote of thanks was passed to'the_ retiring officers for the manner in which they had carried out their tl»ities rlnrinjr the past half-year. The District officers were afterwards entertained at the Burlington Tea Rooms.
