Palmerston North, July 17. At_ the Magistrate's Court to-day, decision was reserved in a case in which P. C. Freeth, editor of the "Manawatu Daily Times," was charged with publishing a letter signed "Shirkei," which it was alleged contained matter indicating disloyalty and likely to interfere with recruiting. Counsel for the Crown disavowed jmy suggestion of disloyalty on the part of Mr rYeeth or the management of tho paper/• The defendantsaid he lmd published the letter in order that he might '■ 'slate" it editorially.
