TUG-OF-WAR.
The tug-of-war commenced last night ir> tho Provincial Buildings grounds opposite the police station, and was witnessed by a large .crowd. .The various teams engaged were evenly matched, and there wore some very exciting contests. The results were as follows:— Kirkpatrick's beat Green's team. Grenadiers No. 2 beat Robertson Bros. Fusiliers beat Railway. Bombardiers beat- Railway. Nattona-1 Reserve Band beat Irish. Mental Hospital beat Grenadiers No. 1. AYaimea Swimming-Club bea£ Carriers. Tiie drawings for to-night,, when the tug-of-war will be continued, are as follows:— Ireland v. Bombardiers Grenadiers No. 2 v. National Reserve Band. Fusiliers v. AYaimea Swimming Club. Carriers v. Railway. Green's v. Mental .Hospital. Grenadiers No. 1 v. Drivers. Robertson Bros. v. Kirkpafcrick's.
