The Department ,of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce" has received the following cablegram, da^ed July 15th, 1916, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless othenvise specified, are iaiverage market prices on spot):— Meat.—There is a less demand for Canterbury mutton. Home-killed mutton and English lamb are in good supply. New Zealand nuvtton and lamb are in small supply. Prices are unchanged, with the result that arm;als of mutton are very heavy, with prices weak. Argentine lamb," prices arc firmer. Cheese.—The market i,i depressed, jind closed irreg.'ular and onsottlcd. Canadian, white 84s to 88s per c.wt, coloured 84s to 88s ;■ English chedcFar, 102s to 104s. New Zealand: Tho market has been unfavourably affected by heated and damaged cheese, and higher prices refer to sales made earlier during the Aveek; white and coloured, 82s to S4s per cwt, and up to 86s to 88s. SLates, flats, white, 80s to 86s. Hemp.—The market is quiet, little doing, but good'•■feeling prevails. Good fair New Zealand hemp, per ton, £48 10s; fair, £47; Government grad-M fair Manila, £'52; coarse, £49. ooijSeptember shipment, good fair New Zealand, £48; fair, £46; Government uraded fair Manila, £50 10s; coarse, £48. The output of /hemp at Manila Tor the Aveek endine; last Saturday was 32,000 bales. AVheat.—The market is quiet,_ but I»olders aro firm. Canadian, airived, r.2s; afloat, 51s.
