FIGHTING ON THE STYR.

ENEMY

ATTACKED ON THREE SIDES.

PANIC-STRICKEN FLIGHT.

(Australian andN.Z. Cable Association)

Parts, July 14

M. Nauctoau gives stirring details of the fighting on the Chartorysk-Rafal-ovka front. When the Austro-Germans were hemir.ed in on three sides they decided to retreat. There remained as the only loophole of escape a, narrow passage IS versts in extent, into which they rushed.

The Russians cannonaded them from north and south and cavalry harassed and sabred them mercilessly in the rear.

The panic was so intense that we occupied a valuable strategic position which had long seemed impregnable.
