PADDY'S MARKET.

This evening at 8 o'clock Paddy's Market will be formally opened 'by the Mayor (Mr C. J. Harley). The Market will be open to the public at 7 o'clock, and preceding the formal opening there will be a torchlight procession, in which the Fire Brigade, Territorials,' returned soldiers, and others will take part. The .-builders have completed their work in connection with the annexes, and it can now be seen how much more spacious will bo the accommodation than at any previous fair held at the. Drill Hall.

In the Drill Hall proper there has been erected >a> commodious stage for the entertainers who will appear nightly with new and novel items. The tea, kiosk will be at the south end of the hall, and on the sides are the stalls of various armios. In the main annex are further stalls.

In the grounds of the Government Buildings is a platform for the tug-of-war, for which there are a large number of entries, and. in which much interest is being taken. Here 'also will be located booths, with " various side shows, and the Provincial Hall will be used as a continuous ballroom.

The side shows, we are informed, will in themselves provide substantial attractions.

Mr F. W. Fairey is bringing in his champion white bullock ''Charlie" and his full sister. The animals- will be penned in the grounds, and a guessing competition will be held for the nearest guess at the live weight of the two beasts. For prizos Mr Fairey offers1 to supply meat to the value of £7 10s and £2 10s respectively. All units of the National Reserve will parade at the Drillshed this evening, to take part in the procession. j Returned/soldiers will parade at the Drillshed at 7.15 this Gvening, to take part in the Silver Bullet Cannonade procession.'
