SHAMEFUL TREATMENT OF BOUNDED BRITISH OFFICER

London, July 13. j Reuters correspondent at head- } quarters tells a story- of shameful conduct of Germans on a wounded English officer brought to a German trench. The popular idea was to despatch him forthwith, but ultimately a suggestion ; of : two officers was adopted that the helpless officer be hoisted and tied to the parapet. Amidst jeers he was told, "Now see what your cursed bombardment is like." The Germans descended the dugout, where, the correspondent believes, they were bombed to extinction by British infantry, who stormed the place- and rescued the British officer.
