FRENCH NATIONAL FETE.
BRITISH PARTICIPATION. (Received July 14, ■9. p.m.) London, July 14. Remarkable Empire-wide arrangements have been made to celebrate the French National Fete day. Tricolours are being sold everywhere on behalf of the Croix Rouge, and the organisers expect to raise £100,000. There will be many special matinees and other features. The British Workers' League will hold a monster demonstration. Queen Alexandra has sent a special i message commending the noble enterprise of mercy to the people of the_ | Empire. ! The "Daily Chronicle" publishes a series of messages from the overseas Dominions^ including a cable from Mr Masscy, expressing homage to France. President Poincaire, in a message to the British people., expresses France's} unbounded admiration of the deeds of Britain's glorious Navy and the wonderful development of the Empire's mighty resources. He sends affectionate greetings to the United Kingdom and the Dominions overseas.
