The Duke of Somerset, speaking in the House of Lords, said the letters of officers in Mesopotamia disclosed a disgraceful state of affairs. He was told that a thousand wounded were sent down in one boat in charge of one officer. Their wounds were not dressed until they arrived at Bombay.
