I It is claimed .that no photo play ever I produced in America has created the [same amount of controversy and interest as "The Nigger," Edward Seldon's sociological play which to-night will-be presented at the Empire Theatre "The Nigger" has been, described by the American Press as the greatest play ever written by an American, and has met with tremendous -success throughout the United States, and- during the first week of its lengthy run in New York at the Hippodrome, the largest picture theatre in the world, it \vas seen by 140.000 people. The total cost of .the. production-was, £50,000, and over 5000 performers were-employed in the making of this' 6000 ft film, which is brimful of startling incidents and situations, which compel the attention and laysjbare the social problems that must'be,dealt with by men and women in everyday life. ing evils and exposing the wrong-doing brought about by the ever-increasing racial menace in America, and a powerfully dramatic story is unfolded of the days of slavery, when men, women, and children of the,coloured race were looked ■ upon as chattels and not as human beings. The Nelson season is a brief one,-and no douibt full-advantage will be taken by the public of the opportunity of witnessing this remarkable production.
