MEETING OF GENERAL

COMMITTEE

The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Nelson branch of the New Zealand Red Cross was held at Hallensteins' rooms yesterday, Mrs W. Lock presiding. The hon. secretary (Miss J. Tomlinspn) reported that ia sum of £600 had been cabled to London during the past month, of which £200 was sent from the Takaka Ladies' Patriotic War Fund. Also there had 'been despatched for Mesopotamia 1484 roller bandages, 1235 many-tailed bandages, and 2592 triangular band-ages, the money value of: the. whole- being £112 13s 9d.' The hon. treasurer (Mr J. P. Hayes), reported a credit balance of £349."

The report of a very successful year's working of the Brightwater branch, forwarded by the lion, secretary (Mrs Walter Colt) was received with applause. Acknowledgment was received from the- Officer Commanding New Zealand Headquarters, Cairo, of the receipt of 62 cases of gift goods shipped by the Willochra on March 4th. The General in Command expressed thanks for the gifts, and ilia continuation of practical interest in the troops.
