FIERCE NIGHT STRUGGLE,

UNSUCCESSFUL ATTACK IN THE

VOSGES

Paris, June. 5,

A communique states that tho enemy's repeated efforts on the slopes of Fumin Wood were completely checked, and every assault between the fort and Damloup smashed.

There was a fierce night struggle at Fort Vaus, where the enemy's attempt to enter was frustrated, despite the use of much flaming liquid.

A surprise attack westward of Carfacs, in the Vosges, put the enemy in possession of three bits of .trench, but a • counter-attack drove them out.
