PERSONAL WAR NOTES.

March, "j 7. Captain (formerly Commander) Steward, of Nelson, is now in command of a warship- and taking part in the Mesopotamian campaign. Gunner M. A. Rickotts, suffering from enteric, and Private A. W. Westrupp, suffering from dysentery, who returned to the Dominion by the Maheno, arrived in Nelson by the Pateena yesterday morning. Gunner Ricketts left New Zealand with the Fourth Reinforcement, and Private Westrupn with the Fifth. Mardh, 20. News has been received by Mrs Stallard of Wainui streot, that her husband, Lieutenant! J. W.-I-Stallard,-has Been transferred to the Artillery. In the h'st of those previously reported missing, now believed to be dead, appears the name of Private Tmomas Parkinson, Auckland Infantry Battalion, son of Mr. Jesse Parkinson, Thorpe. Gunner J. Roth well, who is reported as dangerously ill in Walton Hospital, is an old. Nelson boy and-brother of Mr G. Rothwell and Mrs T. Vosper, of this city. He enlisted with the Fourth, Reinforcements. April, 4. Mrs E. A. King, of Church street, of this city, in reply to an inquiry regarding her son, Private A. N. King, who was known to have been wounded land believed to be on his way home, last night received the following sad intelligence from the Records Office: —"Archur Norman King died of appendicitis at sea. March 23rd", 1916." Th« deceased soldier left Wellington with the Fourth Reinforcements. He was twice wounded at Gallipoh, first in the arm, ,nid later l-osir.g two fingers through shrapnel. While in hospital he was tho recipient of one of a dozen "holdalls" sent out by Queen Mary. Mrs King has another soldier son, Private G. R. April, 15. Trooper Riches, of kelson, who loft with the Main Body, returned home yesterday. Ho came back to New Zealand on the Turakina. Trooper Riches spent three and a half months on Gallipoli, and was wounded in the ami. .
