DEATH OF MR W.W. LANGLANDS.

REMARKABLE FATALITY

Auckland, March "31. Mr William-Wallace LangTands, 56 years of age, contractor for tho Nihotapu dam,, which is being built for the Auckland City Council, was killed under extraordinary circrumstiances this afternoon. A blasting shot was fired at «• point about 60 yards from Mr Langlands' office, and a piece of rock was (blown through the roof of tho building. Mr Langlands, who was inside, was fatally struck on the head. Messrs Charles Bray and Charles Stannard wore with him, and ho was standing between thorn. Mr Langlands expired almost immediately.

At tho inquest on the late Mr William Wallace Langlands, who .was kill; od at fhe Nih©tiipu dam, .Auckland, on March 31st last ,tlio Coroner found that there was no blame attachable to anyone. The funeral, which took place 'in the Waikuinete cemetery, was largely attended. About fifty of his workmen formed a guard of honour and deposited on his grave a beautiful wreath as their nim! tribute.
