KICKED BY A HORSE.
A LAD SERIOUSLY INJURED.
A very serious accident befell tfye second son of Mr T. G. Bennitt, of Murchison, on Sunday evening. The lad, who is eleven years of age, went to tho garden at the rear of the-residence for the purpose of taking a horse te the paddock. As he did not return after some time a search was made, and the boy 'was found evidently suffering from a, kick by the horse, his head being injured. ~t)r. Warneford, who -was' called in, 'found that the skull was fractured, slid'lie ordered the boy to bo taken to Nelson Hospital at quickly as possible. Mr Wm. Downie started from Murchison at half-past ten at night, bringing the boy and Mrs and. Miss Bennitt in his ear to Nelson, where an operation to relieve tho "pressure on the brain was performed before six o'clock yesterday morning. The relatives arc deeply indebted.te Mr Downie Tor his action in travelling all night. On inquiry at:•,the Hospital last evening it was learned that the boy was improving, although in a serious con.li tion. ', -
