DAREDEVIL FRENCHMAN.
The Paris correspondent of the "Central News" writes: —The courage and daredevilry of the French aviator is well exemplified by tho action of the captain of the air squadron which lias on several occasions bombarded Metz, Muenster, and other places in Alsaco> with telling effect. He has successfully led most of the raids, and has invariably regained the French lines safe and sound. - His prowess, according to German prisoners, is the admiration and envy of the Germans themselves, and eventually a reward of 100,000 marks (£5000) was promised to the aviator or artilleryman "who should succeed in bringing him down, dead or alive. On hearing this the captain immediately flew over the German lines and dropped a shower of circulars to the effect that the reward would be a useless expenditure, as he was not worth the price, ©specially as there were lots of other French pilots willing and fully qualified to take his place. "In order that I may be a better mark for you." he added, "I will in future fly in & machine with tho wings painted red." This he iias done on several occasions since, and he can still boast that neither ho nor his machine has been hit.
