SHAKESPEARE TERCENTENARY.
CELEBRATIONS IN ANGLO-SAXON
COUNTRIES

Preparations have been completed for celebrating the Shakespeare tercentenary; in Anglo-Saxon countries throughout the world. The celebrations will commence in Britain oo ftpm .w^l with ;i service in Westminister Abbey, and the preaching of a Shakespeare sermon. 'A Mansion House meeting will be hold on Monday, and a performance of "Julius Caesar" will be given in Drury 3Lane Theatre on Tuesday. The schools will celebrate the'poet on Wednesday. Friday will bo devoted to a pilgrimage to Stratford-on-Avan. The celobrations will terminate with a meeting at London University.
Mr. Birrell will address the Authors' Club on May Bth. The war has rendered it impossible to find funds for the erection of a Shakespeare memorial theatre near1 the Uritish Museum, for which £70,000 has been subscribed. Tho .si-te has been given over for entertain mont huts for soldiers.
