STOKE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL SHOW

The annual 'show of the Stoke Horticultural ■Society opened iv the Stoke Hall yesterday, and will bo continued to-day. The entries for. tho various sections total over 1000, fruit forming •a feature of the. show. There is, a magnificent collection of apples and ti fine display of pears. The vegetable section is also well supported. Thereis a great display .of pot' plants, ferns Iseing specially ■■conspicuous. Cut flowers are well represented, a. fine lot of dahlias being staged. In addition there are domestic and industrial sections, and these two have lilled well.

To-day there' in to bo a demonstration of apple cider making superintended by a Government expert, who will show in every way; the'■facilities of utilising fill fruit net fit for the market. Besides this particular attraction, there will ho all kinds of guessing competitions, together with a musical programme. The show being for patriotic purposes, tilesociety hope to see a large attendance of tire public. ''.'", . * The prize list will he, published in due course.
