AfPress Association cablo from MeLbourno reports the death of Mr John Norton, proprietor of the weekly nows.papern"sruth."
Major James O'Sullivan, who has been Director of Defence. Stores in Wellington, has been appointed Inspector of Ordnance Stores throughout'the Dominion.
A Press Association cable from London states that a barony has been conferred on the Right Hon. Henry Chaplin, M.P., who was formerly President of the Board of Agriculture and President of the Local Government Board in Unionist Ministries.
Mr Chas. W. Thorp, first assistant, Motueka District High School, has re r ceived an assistant mastership at the Wellington College, end will take up his new duties about the middJo of May. Mr Thorp has been a very popular member of the MotueKa conuiiunity, his genial manner gaining him many friends. He has (always taken a keen interest in musical matters, and has willingly lent his aid at all entertainments for worthy objects. Wh'ls he is to be congratulated upon his advancement, he will bo greatly missed in Motueka.
