Mr. John Sheehy, who was in the 18th Royal Irish Regiment, and saw service during the Maori war, died afc the Veterans' Home, Auckland, oh Monday, aged 78 years. He arrived in. Auckland with that regiment in _ 1863. The veteran was interred with military honours at Waikaraka Cemetery, One-t huDga.

Engaging in the League '■crime he joined the Athletic League Football Club. He represented NewZealand against New South Wales one year, remaining in Sydney on that occasion and joining the Balrfiain League Club (last year's champions), of which he V'os the crack' player. He was also included in a New South Wales team against the Englishmen.
