RULES. 1. Definition of a hack: Hack means a torse that has not at time of nomination won a race of the value of 150 soys. to the winner, or races of the aggregate value of 400 soys to the »v inner 2. All protests must be accompanied by a .deposit of £2, which shall be forfeited, should the Stewards consider tJie protest frivolous or vexatious." Provided that in the Trotting Races the deposit must be £5, which shall be : forfeited if such protest be not sustained. _ 3. All nominations and entries for Maiden Hack close at the Secretary's Office, Nelson, on Monday, 14th February, at 9 p.m. Nominations must be made in writing, addressed "Secretary Jockey Club, Nelson," and if by telegram must be confirmed by. letter'first mail afterwards, and to be accompanied by the necessary fees; also name, age, colour, sex, and pedigree of the horse, and colours to be worn by the rider or driver. Any owner neglecting to furn- j ish this information at the time of j nomination will be fined £5. j 4. The flat races will be run under i the rules of the New Zealand Rules of j Racing. The trotting events will be run under the Rules of the New Zealand Trotting Asociation. I 5. The winner of any race after'the! declaration of weights may be rehandicapped. 6. Rule 172, Rules of Trotting. By the entry of, or endeavouring to enter, a horse, every person having, or subsequently acquiring any interest in such horse shall >be deemed to accept all the conditions and restrictions imposed or implied by'these rules, and to be barred from questioning the action or conduct of the club holding a sports meeting, or of any official of the club, or such other body in re-, spect of such horse, or of any person connected otherwise than is provided for in Part XXX. 7. Owners of trotters must give with nomination the last three performances, and also the best winning time the horse has ever made. » 8. The names of the trainer and owner, or owners, must be included in all acceptance forms when acceptances are sent in/in default of which the owner, or trainer, may be fined a sum not exceeding £5, or disqualified. 9. The totalizator will pay cut on first and second horses in every event in which six or more horses start. 10. All .stakes are paid in full. . J.
