THE ARMENIAN ATROCITIES.

The Cairo correspondent of "The Times" states that an American woman, who was engaged on relief work, describes further Armenian atrocities. £he says that.five thousand started from Aleppo, including refined University women and able-bodied men, and were wilfully drowned whilst fording a stream. Others were strapped, 'ieaten, and starved, and only 213 arrived at Kharput. Girls in Marash suffered worse than death.

The. German Consul telegraphed:— "You are'hiding'the girls ; give them up.?!" She obeyed, with the girls 'ivere'delivered"to* the Turks and'suffered horribly. . ■ '
The father of the headmistress went to Constantinople with the view of protesting to the Ambassador, but was refused an interview. The staff said: "Mind your own business."
An American woman obtained permission to feed other girl refugees. The gendarmes suddenly began striking her, owing to the' approach of German officers, who rode her down and badly bruised .her. They then turned to the gendarmes, and said: "Whip this crowd."
A neutral resident in Constantinople protested that the refugees were being tortured by being refused water, and asked permission to send food to* where there were four hundred dying daily. The answer he got was: "Nonsense; what do you think we are sending them out for?"
