RESULT ANXIOUSLY AWAITED BY

THE HOUSE,

SENSATION OVER THE

RESIGNATIONS.

(Received Jan. 7, 8.40 p.m.)

London, Jan. 6

The Labour Congress was marked by acrimonious scenes. It was held in the great central hall, which was crowded by a thousand' delegates representing 400 unions. The result of the vote was awaited with anxiety in the Houso of CoiTimons.

At the conclusion of tho Congress the Parliamentary Labour Party met privately and discussed the result and the railwaymen's amendment. It was felt, in view of Mr. Henderson's speech, that the position was likely to be serious.

There was a great sensation when it was announced that Messrs. Roberts, Junior Lord of the Treasury, Brace, and Henderson had resigned.
