OBITUARY.

Much sympathy will be. extended ■ to> Mr E. B. Fleming, of the firm of Fleming and Sons, in the death of his wife, which occurred on Saturday night. She leaves her husband and 'two youiif children to..mourn their loss.

A highly esteemed resident, Mr.-; Peter. Levy, wife of tho lato ConstalJo Levy, passed away ,at her residence in Halifax street early on Sunday ■n?i?"W Tll° ri Pe'a£[e of 85 years. Jne late Mrs Levy arrived in Nelson by the John Masterman in 1857. During her long residence in Nelson she wasi ki-owr. as the possessor of a very lar.dly nature. Many persons have had cause to bo thankful to Mrs Levy and her late husband for acts of kindness They were always to the fore in charitable causes, and their names in the early days were household words. Mrs Levy leaves two sons and four dau-"h-teis tc mourn their loss. The funeral takes place to-morrow morning.

The funeral of the late Rev. George Jones took place yesterday. The Rev W. E. Lcmbert, of the Baptist Church, was the officiating minister. Mr. Joneis who died suddenly on Saturday at his residence on the Wakapuaka road, was m his sixty-fourth year. He was born at Chiswick, England, and had been a resident of this district for over eight years. He leaves a widow and two sons. He was. a minister of the Baptist denomination, and his active work was done in England.

Ihe death took place at Ashburton Jast week of M.a\ Thomas Renwick Mowat, fourth sou of the late Mr Alexarder Mowat, of Altmarloch at the age of 48 years. The deceased who was born in Marlborough and educated at Nelson College, entered commercial life in the Bank of New Zealand j at. Picton..
