WAKEFIELD.

At a Progressive Association meeting the County Council were congratulated on having arranged with tho Railway Department and carried out the widening of the railway crossing. There remains one danger viz., the corner of the section" on winch the stationmaster's house ftands. The Association recommends that it be rounded. The Council have commenced the muchneoded path on the south side of Main street, and the association hopes the Council will not cease until it is completed as far as the School Bank. The firebell and equipment are to be put in serviceable order. Mr Sainsbury is to interview Nelson bank managers about establishing a "one day a week" bank in Wakefk-Jd. Regarding electric liphtinf, Mr Wra. Newth has interviewed Mr Robert Ellis, of Brightwater, and is to call upon private residents and public bodies in order to find out, how many lights each will take, ana what financial support they will lend the scheme, and report to the meeting to be held on the JiOth inst.
