HILL 60.

(Received July 21, 10.15 p.m.)

London, July 21.,

Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr. C. E. H. Hobhouse said he was present at the recapture of Hill 60. The salient projecting into the German lines and the concentrated fire made it impossible for the troops. to remain upon the hill. It was essential that the withdrawal should not be known to the Germans. Afterwards Hill E0 cctised to be of military importance, which was probably why it was not mentioned in the earlier despatches to the War Office.
