At the Nelson Club on Tuesday evening, Messrs C. A Hamilton and J. Dudley, who are having.for Trentham to-day, were accorded a hearty send-off by members, about fifty being present. Both were the recipients of presentations, Mr Hamilton being presented with a pair of binoculars, a cigarette case ancf a spirit flask, while Mr Dudley received a wristlet watch. Ino Mayor (Mr C. J. Harley) made the presentations. Mention was made of tho fact, that-the Hamilton family was well represented in the present war. Captain Hamilton is fighting the Germans in South Africa, Dr. Allan Hamilton is in the north of France, Mr. Hugh Hamilton is at the Dardanelles, and now Mr Charles Hamilton is going to take his part in defence of the British Empire. A. presentation- was made at the Nelson Club to Sergeant .Stallard, piior to his -departure to. join the reinforcements' training camp. The presentation, whirl- took the form of a prm> O£ sovereigns, was made by Mr H. I\. Duncan, who referred to Mr Slallard s undoubted qualities as a. soldier, and his fitness in every way for the duties he was about to take up. Mr W. Rokors endorsed .Mr Duncan s statement. Sergeant Stallard, after thanking the members of the club lor their gift, expressed the wish that it would bo utilised to secure a £300 insurance policy on his life,, and that the remainder bo paid to his wife in 30s weekly instalments until the money was exhausted.

Sister R. iJevien, sister of Mrs W. Lock, of, Nelson, and a member of the Waiiganui Hospital staff, was among the nurses who left Wellington on the hospital, phip. ■ Sir, Joseph, Wajrd has., received information, .• .that' .his , sons,,- - Messrs.
