Vm< a I'd a stu*ange people (writes Mr Robt. Blatcbford). We have decided to "use some form of asphyxiating gas. But wo arc not going to uso a nasty savago deadl.v gas like that xised by the Germans. We could not do anything so cmi'l. We must make war "most politely, most politely." The Huns uso a yas which kills our men, kills them by "si cruel death of torture. And wo reply by a gas which sends them to sleep- but does not hurt them, does- not kill them. Why ? If they kill our men, why should we hesitate to kill theirs? Why not go one worse and kill more? HWe we not learnt to understond the Germans yet? We shall have* to use poison gas before we have done with the • Huns. And worse thii'gs. But we are so kind.
