Though Customs tariff revision is more likely to be. on the lines of Increases than decreases, Mr rludsQn (Motueka) lias asked the Minister of Customs, Whether, when tho Customs tariff is Iv^ing revised, he will oonsiaer the reduction or removal of the present import duty on fruit canning machinery? ; . n , ' Fruit canning machinery is now sudifict to an unport- duty of 20 per cent., plus 10 per cent, preferential duty, whereas dairying, flourmilhng,,. refrigerating, mt-at preserving, agricultural, ■and soda water making machinery is I admitted subject.'to a duty pt only 5 | per cent.
