During the last three weeks the Sixteenth Canadian Scottish performed magnificent bayonet work round Yp'res. On one occasion they carried four lines of German trenches and pierced tho German line for over a mile.

When the attackers -.were held up by entanglements, the Canadian Engineers, with the, greatest bravery, cut the wires and let the Scottish through. They carried the position, sustaining heavy losse-a.

The Forty-Eighth Canadians also distinguished themselves.

A Canadian writes that when his company captured the enemy's trenches they found eight reservoirs of poison gas marked 1914, and respirators .marked 1911.
