The "third round of the Encounter .Shield competition—in connection with which the rirst qualifying rounds for i the club championship and Cock Cup were played—-was decided on Saturday. The. weather conditions wore very bad, but the links were in good order, as evidenced by the good score put up by G.,Richmond, which is one outside the bogey scor ■ for the links (78). Eight cards were handed in by A Grade players, and five by B Grade players. As eignt- players from each grade is the maximum i umber that can qualify, all those players who put in scores on Saturday will, if they play in the second qualifying rounds next. "Saturday, which will bo played in conjunction with the fourth round of the Encounter Shield, be eligible to play for the Club Championship and Cock Cup respectively.
