SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND.

The following donations have been paid into the Bank -of New Zealand for the Sick and Wounded Soldiers and then1 Dependents' Fund:—Miss F. C. Marsdcu £25 Tooth £1, Mr and Mrs b\ P. Giblin £2, J. Warnock £2, L. J. Best 10s, H. V O. Ledger £25. Payments can be made direct to Mr E. J. Allen at the Bank of New Zealand or paid into tho account, of iho fund at the bank. Amounts will be acknowledged through the papers from day to day. ; Collecting lists for the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund have been left at the four banks, the Town Clerk's office, the newspaper offices, the Nelscn Club, the City Club, and at Mr. W. Lock's.

.. Books have also been left with Messrs .R. B. Jackson and E. J. Allen {Trafalgar street), C. J. Harley and W.' W. Snodgraas (Hardy street), and S. Tyson and the lie-v. -\V. Banmber. Mosdaines F. 0. Hamilton and W. W. Squires and Mr W.- "W. Hnodgrass visited Wakefield on Wednesday evening in connection with t.he . Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund, when. the.object having been explained, a committee was set up to collect subscriptions. The trip was made in Messrs Bnxton and Co.'s car, which was kindly lent for tho occasion. ,

A meeting of the ladies' executive committee for the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund was held on Thursday afternoon in Hallensteins'. room. Mis Lock having been voted to the chair; it was resolved io leave the matter of or"•anising a hous^-to-house collection in abeyance till after .the public meeting proposed to be held on Monday night. In regard to the picture show winch Mr SaunUers is giving at the Empire Theatre next week for the benefit of the mnd Messrs Gibbs and Knapp have consented to arrange for the disposal of tickets throughout the town by tho schoolchildren.
