Wellington, A>ril 6. 'Interesting information regarding the nrst organised venture in the exportation, of eggs from New Zealand was submitted to the Poultry Association's Conference to-day. It was state:! that the r-ondition iii which the fii^s were landed was little short of scandalous, a gioat many being totally unfit, for use. As a contrast to this it was worthy of note that a shipment of 631 crates of San Francisco eggs was landed in Wellington recently in firstclass condition. Three shipments were sent from New Zealand, the prices i-ealiaetl being 33^ cents, 12.57 d, and 35 cents respectively. These netted to suppliers about 7^d, 4jd, and 6fd respectively, showing a loss of about s£d, 9d,' and 7d a dozen in each' case on what would hav-j been realised locally. In presenting the report, Mr Co6per said there was little chance of any further exports lioirig made untli consignors were in a position to dictate prices, and get fair treatment from the shipping companies and from brokers on -ibe other side.
