Marsh, who has been on the staff of the Ocean Beach freezing works for the past fifteen years, has been, appointed to a high-salaried position in Russia. _ The position will entail the supervision of the construction of similar works to those at Ocean Beach,, and the management of them, when they are constructed, for an influential London firm. The engagement is for five years with full expenses paid from New .Zealand.

Dean Mahoney, of Onehunga, and Dean Hackett, of.Paeroa—will in future be officially known as Monsignors, that dignity having heen conferred upon them by the Holy See. Monsignor Mahoney is a native of Auckland.

The doath is reported at Palmerston North, after many years' illness, of Mrs Martha Anne Card, wife of Mr Alfred T. Card, for many years proprietor of the "Marlborough Press," Picton. Shet arrived in Picton with, her parents in 18-58, and married and resided there until 1904. She loaves a family of iive daughters and three sons.
