WHAT THE KAISER FEARS.

Madame de Thebes, who, in her prophecies of what will happen this yeans, says that we are not yet near peace in Europe, and that before it tomes Italy will draw the sword, and Germany be- torn to pieces—south against south and north against north —with revolutionary movements against the militdry aristocracy. The conquerors will cross her frontiers. Germany will seem to give way suddenly, and gaining time, will renew her attacks. In any event, the HohenKollerns will not rule, and the Crown Prince will not reign. Austria will siiare the bitter fate of her ally. England, by this war, will escape grave internal peril. She will play a supreme part, and be saved herself. The Entente will be fruitful, and England's destiny be renowned and sparkling. Russia will march forward, and Poland will rise again from her ashes.

Two years ago this famous Frenchwoman predicted what has since partially come to pass, and what many natives hope will be fully fulfilled. She then wrote: "I sec Germany menacing Europe in general and France in particular, and after a great war there will no longer be Hohenzollern or Prussian dynasty. The days of the reign of the Emperor are numbered." "You will die a violent death by the hand of a murderer." So said a gipsy to Wilhelm when he was Crown Prince. She had no idea of her client's rank, and her sister crone, to whom the Prince wont afterwards, foretold the same fate. Because of the gipsies' foreboding, the Kaiser goes about in fear of the assassin's knife. He never traivols without a loaded revolver by his side, and he always wears the ring which he believes has power to guard him from evil. Sometimes he discusses his assassination with his intimate friends, and gloats over the sensation that such a tragedy would cause throughout the world.
