CAPTURE OF MEMEL
The first losses sustained by the Anglo-Erench fleet in the Dardanelles occurred during a vigorous bombardment of ,Kilid Bahr and Chanak op Friday. H. M.S. ships Irresistible and Ocean and the French battleship Bouvet were struck by floating mines and sank. Most of the crews of the British vessels were rescued, but there were only 64i survivors from the Bouvet, which sank in three minutes, Other warships were damaged. The magazine at Chanak was blown up. The operations continue. The Russians have captured Memel, a northerly Prussian seaporc and fortress. The Erench have advanced at various points.
