The British Admiralty announces that since the beginning of the war fifty-four British merchant vessels have been sunk or captured by enemy cruisers, while twelve have been mined and thirty sunk by submarines, totalling 332,770 tons. The arrivals and sailings to and from United Kingdom ports of steamers of all nationalities exceeding 300 tons numbered 42,264, of which 143 have been lost.
