Mr. W. C. Maceregor has been appointed Crown Solicitor at Dunedin.

Mr. T. A. H. Field, M.P., has been advised that the Hon. TV. Praser, Minister of Publio Works, will arrive on Thursday morning.

Mr and Mrs T. Mortimore, who have been on an extended holiday visit to the Old Country, returned to Nelson on Saturday.

A visitor to New Zealand at the present time is Mr. W. Sheridan, a member of the Tasmanian Assembly. Mr. Sheridan has been, a Labour representative in the House since 1909.

One of the officers of the new battleship Queen Elizabeth, which is engaged in the operations in the Dardanelles, is Lieutenant McCulloch, of Pohangina county (Oroua). Lieutenant McOulloch was farming there when war. broke oue, but, having previously seen service in the Navy, he volunteered for active service, and was accepted.

Lieutenant Wilmot Ching, of th© Royal Field Artillery, a well-known Auckland boy, and a son of the late Mr Thomas Ching, of Remuera, has left England for the front.
