RED CROSS FUND.

The Mayoress (Mrs. Lock) has received a letter from the secretary of the British Red Cross Society, London, acknowledging the receipt from the women of Nelson of the sum of £400. The letter reads as follows:—'"Dear I madam,—On behalf of the sick • and ' wounded soldiers and sailors, I have to thank you for your extremely generous gift to the funds of tins society, lour kindness will -greatly help us in our humanitarian work, and I have pleasure in enclosing you a formal receipt, and in expressing the Committees thanks for your generosity. *our,f faithfully, Frank Hastings, secretary.
