A commnnique states that the Belgians are making progress. They bombarded a convoy near Dixmude.
A French aviator bombarded Conflang railway station in Lorraine.
A further list shows 119 officers' casualties at Neuve Chapelle, including 64 dead.
Details of the fighting at le Mesnil les Hurlus, received from Cernay, state that a mine exploded a partly-filled-up French trench. The Germans occupied it, but were subsequently driven out, and established themselves in a cavity caused by the explosion, and bombarding with trench mortors and hand grenades succeeded in re-occupy-ing the trench.
French artillery during the.night expelled the enemy with hea.vy loss.
The French occupied the cavity, and connected it with the trench by a tunnel. They defeated a German counterattack, killing a hundred.
